Tara York, CFSP

Tara York is a first generation funeral director licensed in Washington State. Additionally, she is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP), a Certified Crematory Operator (CCO), and has also served as a Deputy Coroner in Illinois and Kentucky. Having served the death care industry in various capacities over the years, including pre-need cemetery sales and anatomical donation tissue procurement, she has realized that there is a major need to educate fellow funeral industry professionals on the procedures and processes that take place during a medicolegal death investigation.

She believes that educating our funeral industry on medicolegal death investigations will not only help them to feel better prepared to answer lingering questions families may ask, but it also ensures that they feel better prepared to navigate difficult services as well as difficult restorations during embalming. Having experienced many traumatic losses over the years of close friends and family, Tara is no stranger to the stigmas that come with some losses and seeks to help break those stigmas.

She also holds an AA in Business Administration/Management from Somerset Community College, BBA in Business Administration from Strayer University, Paralegal Certification from Washington Technical Institute and will complete AOS in Mortuary Science from AAMI and a BS in Criminal Justice from Strayer University in 2025.
