Questions & Answers
WHAT IS THE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM?
-The Continuing the Vision Mentorship program is meant to connect mentees with mentors that can offer guidance, support, and help with common topics within the funeral profession. It is a resource meant to be somewhere for new professionals to turn to if they need help or have questions with common topics. It's also a great opportunity to network and learn from others within the profession to strengthen your confidence, skills, and relationships to others.

WHO CAN APPLY?
-Anyone currently attending a mortuary science program, serving their apprenticeship/internship, and/or is a newly licensed funeral professional (licensed within the past 4 years).

HOW ARE MENTEES SELECTED FOR THE PROGRAM?
-The number of mentees that are selected for each program will depend on the number of mentors selected and based on the skill set that mentees are looking to be mentored on. The selection and matching process is done without discrimination of age, sex, gender identity, ethnicity, etc. We are determined to find new funeral service professionals who would benefit the most from having a mentor on their team. If you aren't selected for this program, please consider reapplying for the next program!!

HOW DOES IT WORK?
-The mentee application is designed so that applicants that are selected will be matched with a mentor based on their questions/answers. This match is designed to select the best mentor to help and guide the mentee. Once matched, mentees will receive an email with their mentor's profile. Mentors will reach out to their matched mentees to discuss common challenges and future goals. A monthly check-in may be scheduled between mentors and their mentees to offer supportive and team-building type conversations. This program is meant to be a resource. We are all here to offer any guidance or support that you might not be receiving. We're here to help you succeed!

WHEN DOES IT START?
-For the Fall 2024 Program, applications will open on August 1st for anyone who would like to apply to be a mentee and will be accepted until August 30th. Those accepted into the first program will receive confirmation emails by September 6th. Mentors will reach out to their mentees on September 9th. So you have the weekend to get to look over your mentor's profile until they reach out to say "hello!"

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
-Absolutely nothing! This is a free program designed for mentors to give back to the future of funeral service.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
-The mentorship program will have several periods throughout the year. The first period will start September 9th and last until the end of the year. After a period has ended, mentors will be rematched with a new group of mentees. Once you finish, we hope that you will maintain your new friendships with your mentors. We encourage graduating mentees to continue the journey and hopefully become a mentor themselves one day.

WHO ARE THE MENTORS?
-Our mentors consist of a group of funeral service professionals with an assortment of experience and expertise. As well as being funeral professionals like you, their backgrounds range from educators, youtubers, managers, owners, association members, presenters, writers, coaches, etc. They have graciously volunteered their time and knowledge with the commitment to give back to the future of funeral service. These mentors believe in encouraging, helping, supporting, and providing any help that they can in order to strengthen your confidence and skills.
WHAT IF I DON'T FEEL MY MENTOR IS A GOOD MATCH?
-Hey! We understand that things happen. Mentees can always reach out to admins to see about being reassigned. The mission will always be to provide support and guidance to mentees, so we will do our best to match with someone who will compliment your target areas. If we are unable to match you with a new mentor due to scheduling conflicts or other issues, you will have the opportunity to start the next period without having to reapply.

HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE TO COMMIT?
-The only requirement is mentors will schedule at least ONE video meeting to check in and see how everything is going with their mentees. Any additional video or phone chats will be decided between you and your mentor. There is no set date or time that you have to dedicate to the program. Your mentor is meant to be more like an older sibling. They are there if you need them. Don't forget that all of the mentors are currently serving in the funeral profession, so they understand work schedules and will accommodate the best that they are able.

WHAT IF I DON'T GET SELECTED?
-The number of mentees that are accepted is dependent on the number of mentors and the time that they are available. We want to make sure that all mentees receive adequate and helpful amounts of time with their mentor without anyone becoming overwhelmed. Remember, our mentors are currently serving families and working in the profession as well. We strongly encourage you to reapply for the next period when applications become available.

IS THIS CONFIDENTIAL?
-Any personal information collected during the application process will not be sold or distributed to any outside entity. Information will only be shared between the Continuing Vision admins and the Mentors assigned. Applicants have the ability to note what forms of communication they prefer. Mentors that are matched with more than one mentee will ask if you are comfortable being on group chat/videos with their other mentees, but you are not required to do so. Just let your mentor know that you wish to remain more 1-on-1 style communication. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at info@continuingvision.com
