Questions & Answers

WHAT IS THE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM?

-The Continuing the Vision Mentorship Program is meant to connect new funeral service professionals that are entering into the profession with experienced mentors that can offer guidance, support, and help with common topics.

-Think of your mentor as an older sibling that wants to help and see you succeed! It's also a great opportunity to network and learn from others within the profession to strengthen your confidence, skills, and relationships to others.

WHO CAN APPLY?

-Anyone currently enrolled in a mortuary science program, serving their apprenticeship/internship with a funeral home, and/or is a newly licensed funeral professional (licensed within the past 4 years).

-Must be a U.S. Resident. (More countries coming soon)

HOW ARE MENTEES SELECTED FOR THE PROGRAM?

-The number of mentees that are selected for each program will depend on the number of mentors selected and based on the skill set that mentees are looking to be mentored on. Please complete the Mentee Application in order to be considered for the Program. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

-The selection and matching process is done without discrimination of age, sex, gender identity, ethnicity, etc. We are determined to find new funeral service professionals who would benefit the most from having a mentor on their team. If you aren't selected for this program, please consider reapplying for the next program!!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

-The mentee application is designed so that applicants that are selected will be matched with a mentor based on their questions/answers. This match is designed to select the best mentor to help and guide the mentee. Once matched, mentees will receive an email with their mentor's profile.

-Mentors will reach out to their mentees to make the official introductions and discuss goals the mentee's goals. A monthly check-in may be scheduled between mentors and their mentees to offer supportive and team-building type conversations. This program is meant to be a resource. We are all here to offer any guidance or support that you might not be receiving. We're here to help you succeed!

WHEN DOES IT START?

-Applications for the Spring 2025 Mentorship Program will open November 29th.

The Deadline to apply is December 31st

-The Spring 2025 Program will begin January 27th.

-Mentees that are selected will be notified on January 24th.

-Those that are not selected for the program will also receive an email on January 24th. If you are not selected, please consider reapplying in the future!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

-Absolutely nothing! This is a free program designed for mentors to give back to the future of funeral service.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

-The Spring 2025 Program will start January 27th and end on May 16th.

*Specific dates are subject to change. Any changes will be posted on our Facebook page, LinkedIn, and the website.*

-At the end of the program, mentors will be rematched with a new group of mentees. Once you finish, we hope that you will maintain your new friendships with your mentors. We encourage graduating mentees to continue the journey and hopefully become a mentor themselves one day.

WHO ARE THE MENTORS?

-Our mentors consist of a group of funeral service professionals with an assortment of experience and expertise. As well as being funeral professionals like you, their backgrounds range from educators, youtubers, managers, owners, association members, presenters, writers, coaches, etc. They have graciously volunteered their time and knowledge with the commitment to give back to the future of funeral service. These mentors believe in encouraging, helping, supporting, and providing any help that they can in order to strengthen your confidence and skills.

WHAT IF I  DON'T FEEL MY MENTOR IS A GOOD MATCH?

-Hey! We understand that things happen. Mentees can always reach out to the admin team to see about being reassigned. The mission will always be to provide support and guidance to mentees, so we will do our best to match with someone who will compliment your target areas.

HOW MUCH TIME DO I  HAVE TO COMMIT?

-The only requirement is mentors will schedule at least ONE video meeting to check in and see how everything is going with their mentees.  Any additional video or phone chats will be decided between you and your mentor. There is no set date or time that you have to dedicate to the program. Your mentor is meant to be more like an older sibling. They are there if you need them.  Don't forget that all of the mentors are currently serving in the funeral profession, so they understand work schedules and will accommodate the best that they are able.

WHAT IF I  DON'T GET SELECTED?

-The number of mentees that are accepted is dependent on the number of mentors and the time that they are available. We want to make sure that all mentees receive adequate and helpful amounts of time with their mentor without anyone becoming overwhelmed. Remember, our mentors are currently serving families and working in the profession as well. We hope that each program will continue to grow and encourage you to reapply for the next program.

IS THIS CONFIDENTIAL?

-Any personal information collected during the application process will not be sold or distributed to any outside entity. Information will only be shared between the Continuing Vision admin team and the Mentors assigned. Applicants have the ability to note what forms of communication they prefer. Mentors that are matched with more than one mentee will ask if you are comfortable being on group chat/videos with their other mentees, but you are not required to do so. Just let your mentor know that you wish to remain more 1-on-1 style communication. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at info@continuingvision.com

WHAT ELSE?

-Continuing the Vision Mentorship Program is new and created with the best intentions of offering a guiding light for those making their way into the profession. We kindly ask for patience as we try to iron out the small details. We want this to be a safe place for young and/or new funeral professionals to receive the support and guidance that they might not typically receive on a daily basis. You are the future of funeral service. We want you to feel supported and continue on with the passion that led you to this fulfilling career. You've got this!

-NOTE: There will only be a certain number of mentors accepted for each program. This number will be based on several factors but the most important will be the number of mentee applications received. If you are not selected as a Mentor for the Spring 2025 Program, you will have the option for your application to be considered for future programs.

HOW MANY MENTEES WILL I HAVE?

-That will be up to you as the mentor. You will be able to decide how many mentees you are willing to take on, 1-3. This will be your decision based on how much time you are able to commit.
