Alex Adams

Alex Adams is a dedicated Licensed Funeral Director, Embalmer, and InSight Certified Celebrant with a deep commitment to serving families from all walks of life. Alex’s journey into funeral service was inspired by a desire to provide exceptional care, foster meaningful connections during life’s most challenging moments, and offer families, including children, a significant role in the funeral process. A vivid memory of her grandmother’s funeral at the age of 8 has shaped Alex’s approach to making end-of-life services more accessible and comforting, even for the youngest mourners.

 

After studying Psychology and Religious Studies at Indiana University, Alex shifted focus to Mortuary Science, earning an Associate of Applied Science degree from Ivy Tech Community College in 2019. Her early career was shaped by the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, where she gained invaluable experience working in the bustling city of Indianapolis, IN during a time of heightened loss. This period accelerated Alex’s professional growth, enriching her understanding of funeral service.

 

In addition to her licensure and certification, Alex is an experienced Grief Support Group Facilitator and the founder of Indianapolis Queer Grief Community, an organization dedicated to providing affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals navigating grief. Alex’s passion lies in serving with excellence, ensuring that every family receives the highest level of care and attention to detail. This commitment drives her to continually educate herself and seek out resources to fulfill even the most unique family requests.

 

Alex’s work with grief support groups offers a unique perspective on the long-term impact of funeral services, informing her approach to compassionate care. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and a board member of Indy Pride, Alex is particularly attuned to the needs of marginalized groups, driving her to ensure that every grieving individual feels seen, heard, and validated in their time of loss.

 

As a contributor to the Continuing Vision blog and a presenter for their continuing education programs, Alex is passionate about sharing her knowledge with fellow professionals. Aligned with Continuing Vision’s mission to support and elevate everyday funeral directors, Alex is committed to inspiring others to pursue continuous growth and learning in the funeral profession. She firmly believes in the importance of showing up with unwavering dedication, understanding that each moment—whether on an initial call, during transportation, or at a funeral service—is critical for those in the midst of profound grief.
